Scalpex now speaks Russian and Turkish

Scalpex translated its trading interfaces into the two most widespread among its users’ languages: Russian and Turkish.

Scalpex is gradually gaining trading volumes and a user base. As the number of users grows, the number of new interesting issues is growing too. The attentive eye can see specific trends in those issues and act respectively. This was the case with localization.

Everyone speaks English, don’t they?

No, actually, they don’t. Historically, the language of the crypto industry, like the entire Internet in general, is English. But in 2020, it became evident that the process of mass adoption of cryptocurrencies highly depends on new national and linguistic communities, where English is neither the first nor the second, nor any notable language.

The role of the Russian-speaking community

Since 2016, the Russian-speaking community has become one of the most involved in the history of ICO and crypto industry development. This phenomenon is due to the high concentration of blockchain developers and crypto entrepreneurs in Russian-speaking countries — Russia, CIS countries, Ukraine, Belarus, Central Asia.

Turkey is the country of the developing crypto economy

One can’t deny the importance of the Turkish crypto community. Though very new, this community is the fastest growing globally, beating all the Old Crypto World leaders by the speed of crypto adoption among the general population.

Scalpex appreciates Turkish users even more due to its long friendly relationships, which began at its early adoption stage during the token sale last year.

Do you really need localization?

Crypto users are distinguished by a high degree of independence and autonomy, so we did not understand that localization was necessary for a long time. Nobody asked for it. One day, we found that some of the users’ questions were related to an incorrect or incomplete understanding of the interface’s instructions and labels. It became even worse when non-English speaking traders used Scalpex trading interfaces auto-translated by some browser plugins, which sometimes led to downright confusing cases.

The first step towards localization was creating language groups in telegram chats: Arabic, Turkish, Russian.

In the second step, we created localized language support and knowledge base in Arabic, Turkish and Russian.

We tested several language versions mailing lists with project news segmented by language audiences on the third step. There we found the final confirmation of the need for localization. The opening and reading rates of emails in native languages were times higher than using “universal” English.

Today, we are thrilled to announce the completion of the exchange interface’s localization process into Russian and Turkish languages!

What next?

Localization in Arabic, Korean and Chinese awaits us. Localization into these languages, due to their graphical particularities, will take a little longer. Still, given the audience’s size that their language versions can bring to Scalpex, we are ready for the task.
